Tipsy Terrace has a swimming pool, lawns, tennis courts, mini golf course a restaurant and a bar.
Directly south of Los Gigantes is the old fishing village of Puerto Santiago, which despite extensive development, still retains an unhurried, homely atmosphere. It is on the coastal road, which links the villages. It has a small fishing port and beach. There are top, middle and bottom parts to the town, making the area rather sprawling. It is a mixture of homes, hotels and apartments. As you would expect from a tourist resort, there is an assortment or bars, shops, restaurants, a post office, and nightlife.
The medical centre is next to the small plaza. Many travellers pack up their picnic bags, rent a motorboat and enjoy a relaxing cruise and a close up view of the magnificent Los Gigantes cliffs. You can also take part in one of the guided boat tours that goes out to the remote beach of Masca Valley. It is been said that over a third of all whale and dolphin species pass through the waters surrounding the Canary Islands and going out to see these amazing mammals is an increasingly popular activity in Tenerife.
The Los Gigantes coast is home to a large population of whales and dolphins and you can see them by going on one of the many boat expeditions which are offered by the tour companies which operate in the marina.
There are a few nice shopping choices in the narrow streets of the area including designer, brand and specialty shops and also a few smaller souvenir shops and supermarkets. There are plenty of good restaurants serving local and traditional Canarian cuisine, so take the opportunity to discover and experience the fabulous food on the island!
There are great opportunities for sightseeing and day trips in and around Los Gigantes. You can easily hire a car and drive to the amazing Mount Teide volcano, which is located 98 kilometres from Los Gigantes. Close by there is an open air rock pool, located at Crab Island, which provides a perfect spot for some secluded sunbathing and swimming, and from where you can enjoy stunning views across to the island of La Gomera. You can also take part in a round of bowls or other leisure activities.
Dolphins, Whales and Diving Los Gigantes is set in beautiful natural maritime surroundings and if you enjoy seeing sea life in its natural habitat than we recommend a Sea Safari trip, which sets off from the harbour at Los Gigantes. The area is renowned for whale and dolphin sightings and this is the best way to experience the local species. There are, in fact, over 28 species of whale and dophin species around Los Gigantes, including pilot, minke, sperm and even killer whales.
If you are a scuba diving enthusiastic, then Los Gigantes is a great destination. Below the sea is said to be as dramatic as the soaring cliffs above the sea. There is a diving centre in Los Gigantes, who are experienced in taking about both beginners and experienced divers.
You can also hook up with a local fishing operator and set sail on the high seas to catch Tuna and Barracuda.
