While true, I think this does not answer the question: The inner links and outer links that are treated differently in some chains are the narrow and wide sections of the chain respectively, not the left and right sides. So this aspect doesn't change when reversing the chain. I know you are supposed to: Resize the chain by from the side that terminates at an inner link, this way when you place the new pin into the chain, the outerlink has never had a pin in it before.
